Russia gets no guarantees on ratification of CFE treaty

BRUSSELS, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday he didn't get "guarantees" from NATO on signing the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty (CFE) by the Baltic states, which became NATO members during recent NATO enlargement.

"I got assurances, not guarantees," said Lavrov at a press conference after he met with all the 26 NATO old and new members, who came to Brussels for a flag-raising ceremony for seven new NATO members as well as an informal ministerial meeting.
