US hopes Arab League discusses Mideast reform

WASHINGTON, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The United States hopes that the Arab League will discuss the need for democratic reform in the Middle East region, US national security adviser Condoleezza Rice said on Saturday.

"We hope, with all sincerity, that the Arab League will have constructive discussion on the need for reform in the Middle East, and I realized that this issue will be addressed at the Arab Summit, and that is very good," Rice said during an interview with the London- based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat, excerpts of which in English were supplied by the US-based Federal News Service.
