Annan urges Security Council to help end isolation of Turkish Cypriots

UNITED NATIONS, June 3 (Xinhua) -- United Nations Secretary- General Kofi Annan urged Thursday the Security Council to help end the isolation of Turkish Cypriots as a reward for their support for reunification.

Annan made the appeal in a report on his efforts to help end the three-decade division of Cyprus. His mediation ended after Greek Cypriots rejected a reunification plan, proposed by him, in the April 24 referendum. But the plan was favored by a majority of Turkish Cypriots.
