Russia, EU agree on protocol over Kaliningrad transit

MOSCOW, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Russia and the European Union (EU) have reached an agreement on the Kaliningrad enclave after the upcoming EU expansion, a Russian high-profile official said here Thursday.

Russia and EU are expected to sign a protocol over the Kaliningrad transit, but details of the accord will be announced later in the day after visiting European Commission President Romano Prodi meets Russian leaders, said German Gref, minister of economic development and trade, following talks with EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy.

"The agreement pleases both sides," Gref was quoted by Interfax as saying.
