Another Abu Sayyaf finance suspect arrested in southern Philippines

MANILA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- A suspected militant who arranged for al-Qaeda funds to finance bombings in the Philippines has been arrested in southern Philippines, the Philippine police said Friday.

Khair Mundus, who was arrested last week in Zamboanga City, funneled at least 89,000 US dollars from al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia to Philippine rebel group Abu Sayyaf's leader Khaddafy Janjalani, police told reporters.

Police said Mundus, 40, first worked for Abdurajak Janjalani, the Abu Sayyaf founder killed in a gunfight with police in December 1998. Khaddafy and Abdurak Janjalani were brothers.
