EU Council President pays brief visit to Cyprus

NICOSIA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- European Council President, Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern paid a brief visit to Cyprus on Wednesday afternoon as part of his tour of capitals of all 25 EU members in preparation for the European Council meeting next month.

During his stay in the island, Ahern held talks with Cyprus Acting Foreign Minister Andreas Christou at Larnaca International Airport, and he was scheduled to hold talks with Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos at the Presidential Palace.
