African trade bloc to hold first business summit
KAMPALA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The first ever Common Market for
Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Business Summit is scheduled to
take place in Ugandan capital Kampala on June 7-8, aimed at boosting
regional integration.
The business summit, to be held along with the African trade
bloc's annual summit of heads of state and government, will have the
participation of some 500 policymakers and business people from
COMESA member states.
At least 12 heads of state and government, including Sudanese
President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir, Ugandan President Yoweri
Museveni, and Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, have confirmed their
attendance.
