Pakistan's opposition fields candidate for prime minister
ISLAMABAD, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's opposition alliance
Monday fielded its candidate for the election of the country's prime
minister scheduled to be held Tuesday.
The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) fielded Makhdoom
Amin Fahim, a leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in the
parliament, against Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, a candidate of the
ruling Pakistan Muslim League(Q) and its allied parties.
The ARD comprises the PPP of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto
and the Pakistan Muslim League (Sharif) of the exiled former Prime
Minister Nawaz Sharif.
