Nigerian troops kill 15 in troubled oil-rich Niger Delta
LAGOS, July 15 (Xinhua) -- About 15 people were killed as Nigerian
troops said to be after suspected killers of oil workers including
two Americans razed six Ijaw communities in the southern oil-rich
Delta state, local daily Vanguard said Thursday.
The killing, which came on a day the Delta state government
announced the lifting of the curfew on Warri, along the Benin River
in Warri North local government area on Wednesday threatened the four-
month old peace accord between warring Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic
groups in Nigeria's troubled oil-rich Niger Delta region, the report
warned.
