New Zealand human rights record healthy: official

WELLINGTON, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- New Zealand Justice Minister Phil Goff said Wednesday a latest report shows that the country overall has a very positive record on human rights.

The report, Human Rights in New Zealand Today, has been published by the country's Human Rights Commission and assesses the status of human rights in New Zealand.

"When measured against United Nations standards, New Zealand has one of the best human rights records in the world. We have ratified the six major UN human rights conventions, reflecting the value that New Zealanders place on fairness and security," Goff said.
