British doctors urge Blair to ban smoking in public places

LONDON, July 5 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Monday got letters from 4,500 doctors urging him to ban smoking in public places in the country.

Representatives of the British Medical Association (BMA) delivered the letters to the doorstep of Blair's Downing Street residence in a giant cigarette packet labeled "Passive smoking kills. Smoke-free work places save lives."
