Turkish Cypriot PM calls for end of isolation

NICOSIA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat on Tuesday urged the international community to end isolation of his community as soon as possible, the news agency of "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" (TRNC) reported.

Talat said the isolation of his community should be ended before the European Union starts talks with Turkey on the latter's membership of the bloc.

If the issue of isolation is not solved when Turkey gets a start date for membership negotiations at the European Union (EU) summit to be held in December, Turkish Cypriot side's stance towards Cyprus issue would be weakened, he said.
