LAGOS, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian government Monday applauded the interest of Britain in the execution of developmental projects in the oil-rich Niger Delta region in the south of the African country.

Ahmed Dutse, program director of the Federal Environmental Protection and Management Agency (FEPMA) of Nigeria, told reporters that "the British government has planned a new tripod development project for the region in the areas of culture, economy and politics."

"The full details of the tripod project are being worked out between the Nigerian government and British officials," said the director.
