Reaction mixed to Nobel Peace Prize choice
STOCKHOLM, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Some are calling it "a great
inspiration," but several top politicians and researchers in Norway
were lukewarm about the Norwegian Nobel Committee's decision to award
the Peace Prize to an environmental activist in Africa, Norwegian
newspaper Aftenposten's website reported on Friday.
Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai became the first African
woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for her work that has
sought to empower women, better environment and fight corruption in
Africa for almost 30 years.
