French President, Singapore leaders hold talks

SINGAPORE, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Visiting French President Jacques Chirac on Wednesday met Singapore leaders to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest.

According to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Chirac exchanged views on a range of international issues, and both sides shared the wish to see closer diplomatic and economic links between Asia and Europe.

"They also agreed that all countries had to work together to tackle the global threat of terrorism," the statement said.
