Thailand's consumer confidence index drops for the ninth months

BANGKOK, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's consumer confidence index continued to drop for the ninth consecutive month in September, among negative factors including rising oil prices, bird flu outbreaks and southern unrest.

The index in September dived to 91.5 points, below 100 for three months in a row, the state-run Thai News Agency (TNA) reported on Friday.

The confidence index in overall economy dropped from 92 to 91.1, hitting the lowest in 16 months, Thanawat Polvichai, Director of the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce's Economic Forecasting Center, was quoted as saying.
