Every wine region has its cache of well-kept secrets, vouchsafed
to a small cabala of those in the know. Unless you're a Master of
Wine (a rare breed in itself), the chances are you may not have come
across the wines of Alain Robert in Champagne, Pingus in Spain, Le
Dome in Bordeaux, Colome in Argentina, Wendouree in Australia or
Arthur Pillman in South Africa, the latter a pinot noir so rare that
I've never even met anyone who has seen it, let alone tasted it. Just
as the most sought-after des res never makes it on to an estate
agent's list, these yetis of the wine world are so scarce that they
only rarely appear on retailers' lists, or at auction.
Little-known and difficult to get hold ...
