Former Zambian army commander arrested for corruption

LUSAKA, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian Task Force on Corruption has arrested former Zambian army commander Lieutenant General Geojago Musengule for five counts of corrupt practices including a fuel supply deal of about 1.278 million US dollars, local media reported Friday.

Task Force Spokesman Mpanzi Sinyangwe confirmed this here Thursday.

Musengule was arrested for engaging a local company of Base Chemicals Limited to supply fuel worth 1.278 million US dollars to the Ministry of Defense without allegedly following laid down tender procedures.
