Sweden's Supreme Court stays life sentence to killer of ex-FM

STOCKHOLM, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- After months of legal wrangling, Sweden's Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that the man convicted of murdering former Foreign Minister Anna Lindh will serve his sentence in prison rather than in psychiatric care, overturning an earlier appeals court ruling which had ordered him into mental care.

Lindh, 46, died on Sept. 11 last year, a day after Mijailo Mijailovic, a 25-year-old son of Serb immigrants with a history of psychiatric problems, knifed her repeatedly in the stomach, chest and arms as she shopped unguarded.
