Former Congolese rebels block troops deployment in eastern DRC

KIGALI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Former Congolese rebels blocked Kinshasa's troops reinforcement to the border with Rwanda, according to reports on Monday.

According to senior military commanders in eastern DRC, the Rwanda- backed ex-rebels who are now integrated into the Congolese army blocked the Kinshasa sent troops. But the clashes which started on Sunday had calmed by Monday.

Etienne Bindu, military commander of the DRC's North Kivu province, was quoted as saying the fighting had calmed by Monday between the former rebels and the newly sent troops.
