Former New York mayor distances himself from Kerik

NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani appears to be distancing himself from Bernard Kerik in the wake of the cabinet nomination scandal, while downplaying the former police commissioner's role at his consulting firm, US media reported on Monday.

Giuliani told Newsweek that Kerik's role was so minor that he handled less than 5 percent of the company's business, claiming that Kerik does not actually work at the firm, but rather at an offshoot called Giuliani-Kerik.
