Article: W.Va. high school graduation rate inches up, national study shows

West Virginia's high school graduation rate is inching up and remains ahead of the national average, according to a national report released Wednesday.

The Diplomas Count report shows 72.8 percent of all West Virginia students in the class of 2005 graduated, exceeding the national rate of 70.6 percent and ranking the state 28th.

The previous year, 71.7 percent of all West Virginia students graduated, compared to 69.9 percent nationally.
