I have mixed feelings about meeting Rupert Everett again - the
mixture being between "This is a bad idea" and "You really shouldn't
be doing this". There are two of him, I should explain, Nice Rupert
and Nasty Rupert - and last time I got Nasty Rupert. That was six
years ago, when he had a forgettable film to plug. He picked fights,
lost his temper and refused to play the game. This time the man
waiting for me at a table outside a Soho cafe could not be nicer. He
is funny, he is animated, he is engaging. The difference, I suspect,
is that he is proud of his latest project, a documentary called The
Victorian Sex Explorer.
As well he might be. It is a fascinating portrait of Sir Richard ...
