Elkhart Lake -- Ben Spies' seven-race winning streak was snapped
Sunday afternoon at Road America, but the Rockstar / Makita Suzuki
team's dominance of AMA Superbike racing remains intact.
Veteran Mat Mladin led the final 12 laps of the 16-lap feature to
beat his friendly rival and teammate by 2.695 seconds on the second
day of the Suzuki Superbike Doubleheader. It marked the 11th time in
11 races that either Mladin or Spies finished first.
And for Mladin the victory represented a nice turnaround after
finishing 8.786 seconds behind Spies on Saturday. Spies led that
race from start to finish. Sunday on a wet track, Mladin's average
speed was 108.5 mph, which was about 1 mph slower than the ...
