Cornwall captain Tom Sharp last night declared himself
"satisfied" with his side's display on the first day of their Minor
Counties Championship clash with Berkshire at Falkland, Newbury.
Having won the toss earlier in the day, Sharp watched on as his
team-mates endured a disappointing first session in which the Duchy
were struggling at 57 for five. However, Werrington opener Ben
Smeeth - who went on to carry his bat for a superb 76 - helped to
rescue proceedings as he formed half-century partnerships with
brother Alex, Neil Edwards and Antony Angove to post a final total
of 225 in almost 70 overs.
