Roundup: French President Sarkozy makes landmark visit to Greece

PARIS, June 6 (Xinhua) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy traveled to Greece Friday where he was scheduled to address the national assembly as part of a historic visit, the first by a French head of state for the last 25 years.

The last sitting French head of state to visit the European Union member state was former President Francois Mitterrand in 1982, according to French diplomatic sources.

Following his visit to Athens, which is part of the president's tour of European capitals ahead of the French presidency the EU slated to begin on July 1, Sarkozy will fly to Beirut where he is to hold talks with newly elected ...
