Justin Rudd's Long Beach Giving Project has given away $10,200 in
just 20 days.
Inspired by Oprah's "Big Give" and "Idol Gives Back," Rudd
challenged 15 participants to give $500 in a specific manner, with
the winner to receive an additional $1,000 to give.
In the 20 days leading up to May 10, thousands of dollars in
goods and services were given locally to those who needed help most.
Eighty or so attendees enjoyed a Mexican dinner prior to the
awards ceremony, held at the Bay Shore Church Youth Center. Each of
the participants gave a 5- to 10-minute presentation telling what
they did with the money and what they learned from the project.
