Now that schools are out, our routines change. But lunch and good
nutrition should remain high priorities. It is not too late to plant
some beans and set out a tomato and pepper plant. With careful
watering and weeding, you will soon be harvesting. In the fall,
plant some lettuce and spinach.
We have enjoyed eating fresh leafy vegetables from our small
garden for two months. The tomatoes are setting and beans are
blooming.
We planted pole beans this year because they take up less space.
We are anxious for the first picking. The rainbow Swiss chard has
been a favored crop, delicious at this tender stage in salads and
sandwiches. Soon, we'll add it to stir-fry dishes with other
vegetables. ...
