Meet the great-grandmother who has saved Uplands Post Office.
Disabled Mary Davies will lose a vital link with the outside
world if the branch closes.
The 74-year-old has bravely stood up for her neighbours who rely
on the post office in Springhill Road and fought to keep it open
through the courts.
A last-minute deal was struck between her legal team and Post
Office Ltd on Monday, just before an application for an injunction
to keep it open until a judicial review on its future could be
heard.
"I cannot see why it should shut," she said.
"There are so many older people living up here in Uplands.
"I could not get in to Stroud town centre post office to get my
