Superstition looms large today for a teenager celebrating his
18th year on a rather sinister anniversary - Friday the 13th.
Sam Staniszewski, of Rivelin Road, Scunthorpe, said: "I was born
on Friday the 13th and it's a bit weird that on my 18th birthday,
it's a Friday as well.
"I'm always aware in the back of my mind I was born on Friday the
13th and I try to be careful at all times."
Sam counts walking under ladders and seeing black cats among his
superstitions.
He said: "About a year ago, I walked past a black cat and soon
afterwards, I almost got run over twice.
"I was walking behind a white van and then a really fast car came
past. It just missed me and I kept walking but I blame that ...
