The head of a Cleethorpes post office has expressed concern at
potentially devastating decisions, which could affect every
pensioner.
Sub-postmistress Shradhdha Masharani, from the Sandringham Road
post office, said the possibility they might not get a new pensions
system was "an all-round threat to all post offices".
The Post Office Card Account is the natural successor to the
pension book. Older people now looking to get their weekly allowance
through the post office use the card to withdraw their money.
However, the National Federation of SubPostmasters (NFSP) said
they believe as many as 3,000 post offices could shut if the
Government hands this "lucrative contract" to another company.
