At the beginning of the season, Seth McClung was consigned to the
dreaded long-relief role in the Milwaukee Brewers' bullpen and
Salomon Torres was merely one of many set-up men manager Ned Yost
could summon on any given night in front of closer Eric Gagne.
Some 2 1/2 months later, McClung and Torres qualify as perhaps
the two most important "finds" of the season for the Brewers, who
are still trying to establish themselves as a contender.
"No doubt," Yost said. "They both have been very pleasant
surprises. And very effective."
Continuing to thrive in his relatively new role as a starting
pitcher, McClung put the Brewers in position to pull out a 4-2
victory Sunday before another sellout ...
