South African cyclist makes history

JOHANNESBURG, June 14 (Xinhua) -- A Cape Town cyclist is set to make history when he becomes the first black South African road cyclist to ride for a European continental road cycling team.

Luthando Kaka, 22, of the Life Cycling Academy (LCA), will be joining the Danish-based team Glud and Marstrand Horsens (GMH) at the end of June, the South African Press Association reported.

Kaka is the current Western Province under-23 road cycling champion and lead rider of the Acsis professional men's cycling team.

LCA chief executive officer Glyn Broomburg recommended Kaka for the Danish team after his strong showing at the Western Province Cycling Championships ...
