LONG POND, Pa. - Kasey Kahne and I have something in common.
We may be the only two people on the planet today who don't think
a 500-mile race at Pocono is too long ... and after NASCAR's Sprint
Cup Series returns to the triangular track in early August, Kahne
may change his mind.
When NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series runs the Pennsylvania 500 on Aug.
3, Kahne may well be one of many drivers to pull into the garage
after 500 miles, drenched with sweat, baked by the sun and the heat
radiating from the asphalt, utterly spent by the effort of running
200 laps at the unique, triangular 2.5-mile racetrack nestled in the
foothills of the Pocono Mountains.
