BOSTON - Mike Lowell remembers hitting for the cycle in a minor
league game. But he had no idea that he had seven grand slams in the
majors.
So, how many did he think he had?
"Like six," Lowell said, eliciting laughter from a small group of
reporters huddled around the Red Sox third baseman at his locker.
Lowell's grand slam in the sixth was the second one by the Red
Sox in yesterday's 11-8 victory, completing a four-game sweep of the
Royals and a perfect homestand (7-0) to improve to 21-5 at Fenway
Park this season.
J.D. Drew also hit a grand slam as the Red Sox tied a major
league record with two in the same game, accomplished 72 times, most
recently by the White Sox April 13 against ...
