The man in charge of shutting 2,500 post office branches has
visited the outlet given a last-minute stay of execution.
Ahead of three-way talks between Post Office Ltd, Stroud Town
Council and Uplands Post Office over how it will run, Mark
Partington dropped in to see the branch for himself.
Alan Cook, managing director of Post Office Ltd, has written to
Stroud mayor John Marjoram to confirm there will be talks.
Mr Partington's visit came in a dramatic week for the popular
branch, which was saved thanks to a deal struck between legal teams
for Post Office Ltd and disabled Uplands resident Mary Davies. This
means it can stay open at least until August 4.
