Article: Comedy festival promoters facing Fringe eviction threat

MAJOR Fringe promoters could face eviction from their venues due to the controversial "breakaway" Comedy Festival, it was reported today.

City leaders are said to be considering cancelling agreements with the Assembly Rooms and the Underbelly from next year if the new festival proves damaging to the Fringe.

The four biggest Fringe venues - the Assembly Rooms, Underbelly, Gilded Balloon and the Pleasance - have joined forces this year with their own programme, though they are still selling tickets through the normal box office.
