UN envoy in Cyprus to push forward peace process
NICOSIA, June 17 (Xinhua) -- UN Under-Secretary-General for
Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe met with Cypriot leaders on Tuesday
to assess the peace process and seek ways to push for a solution to
the decades-old Cyprus problem.
"I'm here because the eyes of the world are very much on Cyprus,"
Pascoe told reporters after a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader
Mehmet Ali Talat in northern Nicosia.
There were "huge hopes and expectations" that the peace process
relaunched by the two community leaders in March would move forward
rapidly in a bid to find a solution to the issue, he said.
