Article: Revised school budget going up

MONMOUTH - Voters will get a second chance to establish a budget for the coming school year on Wednesday, according to school officials.

The June 10 ballot didn't carry a question asking voters why they voted the way they did, so the School Committee didn't get clear direction on whether to increase or decrease the budget. When voters go to the polls on June 30, the ballot will include such a question so the School Committee can better understand the outcome.

On June 10, voters rejected a $7.4 million budget, representing a 4.18 percent increase over last year, with a higher contribution from Monmouth taxpayers of $91,293.
