Article: Rockland lobster boat races go on after fog delays start

ROCKLAND - Nervous racing spectators paced a little in the fog Sunday while waiting for the 10 a.m. start of the local lobster boat races.

But soon the fog began to burn off, and by 11:30, the Coast Guard had given the OK for the races to begin.

Rockland lobsterman Ryan Post, driving his 40-foot, diesel- powered Instigator once again, was the starting boat.

The boats raced along a half-mile course from the lighthouse and ran parallel with the breakwater toward Jameson Point near the Samoset Resort.

When the 28 races were over, Post and the other racers met at the Journey's End Marina for a celebration and to hear the winners announced by Gordon Page.
