Pewaukee -- They measure their preparation for a race of 500
miles in feet, and only the ones going up.
How else would you train for Primal Quest, an adventure race that
promises as much elevation gain as eight ascents of Mount Everest,
from base to summit?
In that calculation, pedaling up and down the steep road to the
Lapham Peak tower counts as 4,500 feet in a workout for Dan
DeBehnke.
Trekking for two hours on the slope known as Tower Hill on W.
Mill Road adds another 3,000 to Chris Decker's upward tally.
Week in and week out, the two emergency room doctors have biked,
