Sarkozy against EU enlargement before ratification of Lisbon
Treaty
BRUSSELS, June 20 (Xinhua) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy
said here Friday the European Union (EU) should not accept any new
member before completion of the ratification process of the Lisbon
Treaty as an Irish referendum which rejected the treaty last week
has stalled the process.
Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the two-day EU
summit, Sarkozy explained that after the Irish vote, time is short
for the Lisbon Treaty to be approved before next June's European
Parliament (EP) elections.
