Nicaragua gets ready for Beijing Olympic Games

MANAGUA, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Nicaragua is getting ready to compete in the Beijing Olympic Games as it hopes to win this time a medal, Nicaraguan Olympic Committee (CON) spokesman Moises Avalos said Friday.

In the pervious nine Olympic Games, Nicaragua has not achieved a gold, silver or bronze medal.

Nicaragua had participated in the Olympic Games of Mexico (1968), Germany (1972), Canada (1976), Russia (1980), Los Angeles, United Sates (1984), Spain (1992), Atlanta, U.S. (1996), Australia (2000) and Greece (2004).

Avalos, in an interview told Xinhua that for the Olympic Games of Bejing, the CON has given 7.5 million U.S. dollars for expenses.
