EU leaders postpone decision on Lisbon Treaty

BRUSSELS, June 20 (Xinhua) -- European Union (EU) leaders decided on Friday to postpone a decision on the Lisbon Treaty following the Irish "no" vote and to recognize the difficulty faced by the Czech Republic in its ratification process.

At their two-day summit here, EU heads of state agreed that they will revisit this issue when they meet again in October.

"The European Council (of heads of state and government) agreed that more time was needed to analyze the situation," reads the final declaration of the summit.

They expressed hope that the Irish government would be able to come up with suggestions regarding what to do next at the October ...
