Article: SPIDERS UNDER CONTROL - AT LEAST FOR A WHILE

A couple of weeks ago, I turned to Courier & Press readers for help in my ongoing battle against some unwelcome roommates.

My home seemingly had turned into a time share for spiders, and my efforts to find a way to convince them to leave - short of calling an exterminator - weren't working.

The most intriguing solution offered - adopting a cat - is one I can't test. The reader's theory was that the cat would either eat or scare away any spiders and disturb their web building.

"Well, get a dog instead," a co-worker quipped when I mentioned I'm allergic to cats. "It would probably do the same thing."
