As a long-time member and supporter of NARAL, I believe it is
important to speak out against columnist Susan Estrich's attack on
the organization for endorsing U.S. Sen. Barack Obama. NARAL's
reason for endorsing Obama at this stage in the primary campaign is
straightforward: Every day that passes without a confirmed
Democratic nominee is another day for John McCain to build his
advantage in the coming general election.
Although competition has been good for the Democratic Party,
following the West Virginia and North Carolina primaries Obama had
clearly emerged as the candidate favored by both pledged and
superdelegates.
