Originally called the Methodist Episcopal Church South, Tulsa's oldest Methodist congregation didn't tack Boston Avenue onto its name until 1908, when the 15-year-old church finished a $40,000, four-story brick structure at Fifth Street and Boston Avenue. Supported by four huge columns at its courthouse-styled entrance, its 200 worshippers passed under stained-glass windows that opened to provide relief on hot days.
