Kanawha administrative staff to receive pay raises

Eight members of the Kanawha County Commission's administrative staff are to receive pay hikes effective July 1.

Commissioner Duke Bloom said most raises are in addition to a cost-of-living pay boost given in January. However, he said, the employees continue to be underpaid when compared to workers performing similar jobs elsewhere.

The largest single increase will be reflected in the check of William Thaxton, the county's project coordinator. Thaxton's pay will go from $27,348 to $35,000 a year. County Administrator Stephen Zoeller will remain the highest paid member of the staff. Zoeller's pay will go from $53,664 to $59,500.
