Article: Virgil Shreiner

NAPLES, Fla. -- Virgil E. Shreiner died early Monday morning June 16, 2008, at Bentley Care Center in Naples, Fla. He was 96 years old.

Virgil was born in Barberton, to William H. and Sadie (Zook) Shreiner on Dec. 27, 1911.

Starting his career as a stock person and manager at grocery stores while still in high school, he was dedicated enough to finish a year early. Virgil continued working several jobs while pursuing a double major in chemistry and physics at Otterbein College in Westerville. Virgil was the oldest surviving member of Zeta Phi, a fraternity he helped found at Otterbein.

After graduation, he then came back to Barberton and became head chemist at Seiberling Rubber Company. ...
