Selling his house and moving to an unfamiliar part of the country
to set up a business was a massive gamble for Dave Haggett.
He bought a small butcher's shop in Silverton, near Exeter,
lived in the one-bedroom flat above and worked gruelling 24-hour
shifts to get the business on its feet.
This year, August Bank Holiday will mark the 20th anniversary of
DJ Haggett Quality Butchers - and the business is a resounding
success.
Employing 20 members of staff, Dave and his team provide
Silverton and the surrounding area with fresh, free-range local meat
and award-winning sausages, pies, pasties and much more.
